terence-fixmer-the-paradox-in-meTerence Fixmer is considered the pioneer of the fusion between techno and EBM music which, together with industrial techno, has become the leading style in our current music.

It’s needless to say that the sound of the French artist has strongly influenced labels such as Aufnahme+Wiedergabe, BITE and many others. It’s not by chance they’ve paid their homage to his music by releasing some of his stuff.

His first groundbreaking album, Muscle Machine, was released long ago in 2001 by International Deejay Gigolo Records, the label of Dj Hell, who was and still is considered one of the most appreciated techno deejays and producers, but the first results of his new hybrid style were already released a couple of years before (with Electric Vision).

Before releasing music by using his name, he released music on the old school Belgian label Bonzai Records as Scanner. In 1998, he started his label Planet Rouge Records, with which he’s mostly released his music and that of artists such as Alexey Volkov, Crash Course In Science, NX1 and many others.

In 2002, he started making music with Douglas McCarthy of the historic EBM act Nitzer Ebb, paving the way for the establishment of the EBM techno trend we experience today.

After having released many records with many important labels, on 21st June he’s released his new album The Paradox In Me, his sophomore album for Mute / NovaMute. The vinyl version includes six songs, while the digital version includes twelve songs. Two of the songs included in the digital version were already released on the Paradox 1 digital single.

What could be said about this new record that wasn’t already said about his previous releases? After having released his signature style for more than 25 years, Terence Fixmer could have only done a top notch album with no fillers and with a classy sound design and superb quality, alternating dark classic techno-ish and more EBM-ish techno outputs. The Paradox In Me confirmed once again his great talent and his absolutely pioneering role played in the definition of the music most of us today like the most.
