Today we talk with the people behind the Argentinian, now Berlin based, Knife project. During the years, the project has become especially famous for its podcasts, but they also make premieres and they release music too. The group has recently moved to Berlin and has also played in Italy with Brutal Forms and Zeitreise.
Hi! It’s a pleasure to talk with you on our website! Although surely many of our readers know Knife, would you like to tell us how and when the project started?
Hello, the pleasure is ours. The project began in 2017 with the idea of unifying in the same space the musical genres that most represent us since it was very difficult for us to find them in an accessible way.
Would you like to talk with us about the Argentinian techno and industrial scene, especially that of Buenos Aires? Would you like to suggest us some producers and deejays?
The industrial scene in Argentina is practically non-existent, which was one of the motivations for starting the project. Our favorite national artists are all directly related to the project and they are Witch-hunt Abolition, Niban, Tashuer, Ictericia, Sawdust, Kamé, Gnostic Heresy and Unknown.
Recently you’ve played in Italy with Brutal Forms and Zeitreise. What do you remember of that night? What have you enjoyed the most about your Italian holiday?
It was a good night in Verona. We really enjoyed getting to know the city and took the opportunity to walk around Venice too.
In 2020 Knife has also become a label, with which you have released Bleeding Out Shadows Of The Past by Kamé, and which mastering was made by Nicola Cimmino (Sharplines). I knew about Kamé music thanks to the cult compilation released on Sharplines label. The release has been very well acclaimed, with remixes by Hypnoskull, Shrouds, Exome and MDD. What can you tell us about it? Are you actually working on a new release? You’ve talked me about an upcoming various artists.
Regarding our first release, we have been very happy with the work of everyone involved and of course we are planning a new one for 2024.
Unknown, another member of the project, has released music on the acclaimed labels OSM Tapes, CrestFallen and X-IMG. What can you tell us about these releases?
Unknown has taken advantage of the pandemic to work on different sounds that were released between 2020 and 2021 with influences from noise to electronic body music to industrial techno.
You’ve recently moved to Berlin, and you’ve started to have a direct contact with the artists you have worked with during the years. What’s your feeling about it? Are you enjoying this new experience?
Coming to Europe has meant a resounding change in our lives, the economic situation in Argentina has helped us carry out that decision, since it was increasingly difficult to continue meeting our objectives with the label.

You have published almost 200 podcasts. Are there some of them you consider particularly relevant for the growth of your project?
About the podcast series, we can say that we are privileged to have included practically all of our greatest musical influences in our series from Tomohiko Sagae to Ancient Methods and that thanks to the participation of each and every one of them we have managed to get to where we have reached . Another of our great successes was having held an event in Argentina bringing SARIN, the owner of X-IMG, who gave an incredible performance in his presentation.
You also make premieres, and you’ve also done some premieres for us. When did you start doing them? What can you tell us about them?
We started making premieres with the idea of helping record labels promote their releases with our community and it was another of the things that catapulted the growth of the channel. The project leads us to never stop and always seek to grow a little more.
Where is the project actually heading to? What would you like to do in the future?
The idea is to continue releasing podcasts, continue rewarding releases and make events around Europe. We thank all the artists, labels and listeners who always support the channel since without them our work would not be the same.
