In an historical period characterized by the fragmentation of information typical of the Postmodern world we live in and that in the past was called “information age”, a versatile artist such as E-Saggila can be considered an emblematic artist who, with each release, redefines the boundaries of its music, always exploring new and unexpected directions.
That’s one of the most interesting trademarks of its music, that we can also find in its new release Gamma Tag, released on 26th January by Northern Electronics. In these seven songs, the artist explores the IDM universe and that of broken beats with a contemporary approach, expression of music in the age of Internet. In each song, sounds and rhythms can be considered fragments of a non-linear hypertext, an expression of matter always moving outside any boundary.
Experimentation is at the center of an eclectic artist such as E-Saggila, that surely could sometimes recall historic “intelligent dance music”, but that well expresses all the phenomenons brought by the spread of Internet on a global scale: depersonalization, fragmentation, non-linearity and the rise of digital identity, among others.
Nowadays, artists approaching music composition with a truly contemporary approach don’t feel slaves of genres boundaries and of music rules and make a wise use of experimentation representing the world we live in. That’s the case of E-Saggila, who always use different music palettes in each release. It doesn’t matter at all if the result is techno (Profiteer), IDM (Every Voice at Once) or the dub-like Stalking Star. What really matters are the multisensory experiences evoked by the release in its entirety.
The listener is invited to enjoy this release while waiting to be blown away again by what will be released by E-Saggila in the future and, if possible, to enjoy the experience live.
