Katatonic Silentio – Middle Ages

katatonic-silentio-middle-agesOur long-time readers will know that we’ve been started talking about Under My Feet. releases since 2021, when Unravelling was released. Since then, it has released other five tape releases (including the subject of this review), plus those of its Live On Tape series.

Although having explored a truly wide range of styles, the project has always followed a clear fil rouge of modern sound research and experimentation, taking the right time to release its music and refusing to follow mainstream music business rules.

We can find that same philosophy also in Katatonic Silentio, a sound artist who has explored a wide range of music styles (as well as the other artists who were released by the label). Also in its last release, Middle Ages, released on tape on 22nd November my UMF., we clearly find a great variety of songs. The artist knows how to kick it hard with heavy noise beats, as well as to experiment with glitches, noise and processed electric guitar.

Also thanks to a well thought tracklist, alternating songs having different souls, in its six songs for less than thirty minutes of music, Middle Ages succeeds in being able to be considered a proper full length.

As we often do, we wouldn’t reccomend any songs above others, and a track-by-track review couldn’t give justice to a release conceived to be experienced in its entirety.

Once again, this new release confirms the quality expressed by UMF. and we’ll wait for its next steps.
